How cheap is cheap before it becomes slave labor

Around the USA we all look for the lowest price, but with cheap imports, and cut corners (GMO), when does cheap lead to be so cheap your really hiring slave labor.

The article writing makes reference to “fair” in pricing. It sounds very socialist, and it may be. The nagging question I have had for a while is in free trade, as a system, do people not get taken advantage.

I understand supply and demand economics. What has been unclear is when 1st world employees have to compete with 3rd world employees. They are not the same thing. Argument have been made these are jobs 1st world employees do not want.
